Gas Prices Over The Last 30 Years

I thought it would be interesting to list the average gas prices by year going back thirty or so years.  It seems now that we are inching toward $4.00 per gallon, it is a subject that is on everyone’s mind.  All of us use gas either in getting to work or as part of our daily job if we work in transportation sensitive industries such as trucking or the airlines.  The rising gas prices have a ripple effect throughout the economy as prices of goods and services rise due to the increased cost in providing them.  Here are the averages by year for the past several decades:

1990 – $1.341
1991 – $1.053
1992 – $1.069
1993 – $0.999
